We have come a LONG way from where we were the last time I posted on this blog but I figured now that we have a darling little girl I will finally have something to blog about. Lilly Grace Nielsen was born 7 weeks ago this coming Tuesday. After being on bed rest 5 weeks due to high blood pressure I was more then ready to welcome her into the world. I went to my doctors appointment Monday December 13 and my doctor sent me over to the hospital. At 37 weeks my doctor finally felt like it was in everyone's best interest that I be induced. I was in labor for about 14 hours start to finish. I pushed for 45 minutes and our came our beautiful baby girl. Lilly Grace Nielsen born December 14, 2010 at 12:25am. At around 4:00am a nurse came into my room to info me that she was being admitted to the NICU due to low blood sugar. That was the beginning of a long week. She was taken down to the NICU and had to get and IV and all sorts of monitors. The doctor had ordered a few test and it appeared that Lilly was possibly fighting off an infection of some sort. It was so hard to sit by and feel completely helpless. After a few days the infection started to go away but at this point she had developed jaundice which meant more stabbing and more blood tests. Her poor heels were so sad looking. By Friday evening we had the okay to take her home. Little did I know that Kevin and I had been blessed with the easiest baby ever. I know lots of people say things like that to try and make everything look perfect, but anyone who knows me, knows that is definitely not how I am...I tell it like it is! She has slept through the night from day 1, she is a fantastic eater, she loves her binkies, and she only cries when she is hungry or has a poopy diaper. She is a dream child ( must take after her mother :) ) It is truly amazing to me the joy she has brought into our home. I never knew it was possible to love someone as much as I love her!
